Welcome to the Alan Smithee Project, A Tiny Experimental Hub of the Social Media Exodus

The basic idea of TASP is to create a clearinghouse of publicly shared email addresses, so we can choose our providers, and go where we want to go without being tracked (as much) and where we can recapture the joy of discovering what other people think is cool, instead of the monotony and eerie lonlieness of having every interaction driven by algorthms that attempt to push "engagement", either by keeping you angry and frightened ("doom scrolling"), or by mirroring back your own preferences. It makes the world sadder amd less interesting, and, by extension, it does the same to us. Social Media reduces EVERYTHING: world events, politics, relationships-- into clickbait. Getting you to click is ALWAYS more important than getting you to think, and so every post seeks an emotional response. YouTube videos have titles with verbs like "destroys", "humilates", and "implodes". If you're liberal, you're going to want to click to see how "AOC Destroys Marjorie Taylor Greene", but MTG is never really destroyed. She'll be back in your reccomendations tomorrow. This time, she'll be "humilated". She'll "implode"... if that's what it takes to get you to click again.
